O2/Be Broadband SMTP Restrictions

O2 Broadband (the Telefonica rebranding of Be Broadband) has a restriction on its SMTP ports, the only port-25 connection you can use is for the smtp.o2.co.uk server for o2 mail. If you want to use your own email provider such as Google Mail you have to use a different port, so for example use the SSL port 587 for Gmail connections.

Hope that helps someone!

well realistically you have a couple of options either since you are inside their network use their relay server (they know if your sending spam and can cut you off)
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
    Host Name: smtp.o2.co.uk
    User Name: youro2username@o2.co.uk
    Password: youro2password

    Outgoing Settings
    Use SSL: Off
    Authentication: Password
    Server Port: 25

    OR

USE THE STANDARD mail submission port 587 directly to the account you are sending from using gmail as a relay is potentially very dangerous if you dont want everything you sent read and indexed by google…
(which is fine for play but work might not be a good plan)
so simply ask your admin !
